Meaning of Numbers: The Number 424
The possible meaning of the number 424 is derived from the Biblical calendar and Old Testament history.

The Persians and Number 424
The Persian Empire (also called the Medes or Media) is discussed many times in the Bible and is the subject of several prophecies (see the books of Daniel and Ezra).
The Persians, in 424 B.C., experienced the unusual occurrence of having three different kings rule over the empire in a single year.
Artaxerxes I became king over the Persians in 465 B.C. Twenty years later, his interactions with his wine steward named Nehemiah led to Jerusalem's walls being rebuilt (Nehemiah 2).
And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I (Nehemiah) took up the wine, and gave it unto the king (Nehemiah 2:1, KJV).
When Artaxerxes died in 424 B.C. his son Xerxes II succeeded him on the throne. Xerxes, however, only ruled for 45 days as he was assassinated by Sogdianus his half-brother.
Late in 424 Sogdianus, possibly an illegitimate son of Artaxerxes I, became Persia's new ruler. His reign would also be cut short, however, as six months later in 423 B.C. he was assassinated by Darius II.
