Meaning of Numbers: The Number 365
The possible meaning of the number 365 is derived from the calendar, the occurrence of certain words and the mystery surrounding Enoch.
The Hebrew word Elohiym (Elohim), Strong's #H430, is written 365 times in 325 verses in the Hebrew version of the book of Psalms. It is the second most common Biblical word used in reference to God. As the plural form of the word El used for God, it reveals that the Godhead is currently composed of more than one Being (God the Father and Jesus Christ).
Consider and hear me, O Lord my God (Elohim): lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death (Psalm 13:3, KJV).
Appearances of Number Three Hundred Sixty Five
The Greek word polus, Strong's #G4183, occurs 365 times in 331 King James New Testament verses. It is recorded the most in Mark's gospel (60 times) followed by Matthew (52) then Luke (51). The word designates a general quantity such as many, much or large. It can also be translated as "great" or "much." Its last use in Scripture describes the appearance of Jesus as he leaves heaven to establish God's government on earth.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many (polus) crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself (Revelation 19:11 - 12, KJV).
God's word states Enoch lived to the age of 365 where he then seems to have disappeared without a trace!
And all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. And Enoch walked with God, and then he was not, for God took him (Genesis 5:23 - 24, HBFV).
It is easy to assume the Lord whisked Enoch away to heaven to receive his reward. This, however, is not the case! God's word plainly states that all humans must die a physical death (Hebrews 9:27). It is Jesus, not Enoch, that is emphatically referenced as the first person to die then be resurrected and allowed entrance to heaven (Romans 8:29, Colossians 1:15, 18). At the age of 365 Enoch was taken somewhere else on earth to live out his days and await a resurrection like all others (1Thessalonians 4:15 - 17, 1Corinthians 15:51 - 52).
The Calendar and Number 365
A year is defined as the time it takes for the earth to make one complete orbit around the sun. Our modern calendars define a year as containing 365 days. This definition, however, is not entirely accurate. The average length of a year is roughly 365 1/4 days. Because of this fact we must add an extra day every fourth year to create a leap year, which contains 366 days, to compensate for this fractional period.
What few people realize is that the number of days in a year has changed since God created humans! Years contained 360 days, not 365, existed before Noah's flood. It was only after the flood that a year was composed of 365 1/4 days. The proof that years were composed of 360 days is in Genesis 7.
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on this day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of the heavens were opened . . . And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.
And the waters receded from off the earth continually, and at the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters had gone down. And in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat (Genesis 7:11, 24, 8:3 - 4, HBFV).
Scripture states there were 150 days between the 17th day of the second month to the 17th day of the seventh month (a 5-month period). From this we can conclude that each month had 30 days and that a year of 12 months therefore contained 360 days and not 365.
