Hor
Bible Meaning: Mountain
Strong's Concordance #H2023

Mount Hor is where Aaron, Israel's first High Priest and Moses' older brother, died at the age of 123 (Numbers 33:37 - 39). He was not allowed to enter the Promised Land due to his refusal to carry out God's will at the waters of Meribah (20:22 - 24). Moses, who also did not follow God's instructions at Meribah, will die less than a year later on Mount Nebo (Deuteronomy 32:48 - 50, 34:1 - 6).

The location of Mount Hor is not Biblically clear. What is known is that it is likely a short distance from Kadeshbarnea (Kadesh) and that it was near, but not inside, Edom's borders.

A mountain named Hor is also recorded as existing as Israel's northern boundary (Numbers 34:7 - 8). This mount might be synonymous to Mt. Hermon.
