Answers on Revelation
1. A great red dragon is used by God to represent Satan the devil. After Lucifer turned himself into God's adversary he deceived one third of all the angels who then became demons under him (Revelation 12:4). It was also the devil who sought to kill Jesus right after he was born (verses 4 - 5, see also Matthew 2:13 -15).
2. Angels do indeed fight battles. There will come a time, in the near future, when righteous angels led by Michael will go to war against Satan and his demons (Revelation 12:7). Their victory will lead to the devil and his army being permanently banned from heaven (verses 8 - 10).
Revelation, however, is not the first recorded time when angels fought each other. The archangel Gabriel, with the help of Michael, had to fight his way through powerful evil spirits in order to reach Daniel (Daniel 10).
3. The Beast and the False Prophet will be allowed to deceive the world and be worshipped by mankind for 42 months (Revelation 13:5). This period is generally refered to as the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21, Revelation 7:14).
These 42 months are the same as the time God allows Jerusalem to be "tread under foot" by the Gentiles (Revelation 11:2). It is also the length of the Two Witnesses' ministry (1,260 days, verse 3). A select few Christians, picked by God's wisdom, will also be protected during this time of trial and testing (Revelation 12:6).
4. The music from harps is used to accompany 144,000 Israelites who sing before God's throne (Revelation 14:1 - 5). The song they sing is special because it is only known by them. This is possibly because they were all specially saved from Satan's wrath during the Great Tribulation.
5. Revelation makes it crystal clear that God's laws are, and will continue to be, in full effect for all Christians. In fact, it will be only those who have faith and KEEP the commandments (and not merely professing belief in God) that will be saved!
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus (Revelation 14:12).

6. The word "Armageddon" literally means, in Hebrew, the mount of Megiddo.
And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon (Revelation 16:16, KJV).
The Mount of Megiddo, located in the broad valley of Jezreel, is the place where the devil will lead all humanity to vainly fight the return of Jesus Christ.

7. The great hail that will rain upon the earth will have stones weighing a talent (Revelation 16:21). A Biblical talent is roughly equivalent to 75 U.S. pounds (34.3 kilograms)!

8. Ancient Babel and its famous tower, the precursor to Babylon, was started by Nimrod after the flood (Genesis 10:8 - 12). Nimrod, who opposed God, had the tower built to defy God's will for humanity that it spread over the earth. He also built it in a vain attempt to ensure humans wouldn't die in another flood (see Genesis 9:1, 7, 11:4).
Babylon, from its beginning, represented man's rejection of God and determination to rule itself apart from its Creator. This, of course, also opened the way for Satan the devil to deceive mankind on a grand scale. The rebellion started by Nimrod in Babel eventually became the first major world empire symbolized by Nebuchadnezzar's dream of a huge statue of a man (Daniel 2).

9. Business both great and small will mourn over the destruction of Babylon the Great because they grew rich from her sins. These merchants will bemoan the loss of their greatest customer!
And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more . . . The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her (Babylon), shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing . . .
And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea . . . (Revelation 18:11, 15, 19, KJV).

10. The English word Alleluia (the Greek form of the Hebrew Hallelujah) is found, in the New Testament, only in Revelation 19.
And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, unto the Lord our God . . .
And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia . . .
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia (praise ye Jah!): for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth (Revelation 19:1, 3 - 4, 6, KJV).
11. The Bride of Christ is composed of all those resurrected and given eternal life in the first resurrection of the dead. These resurrected saints will enter into a spiritual union with Jesus just prior to his Second Coming.
12. The phrase "lake of fire" is found four times in Revelation (Revelation 19:20, 20:10, 14 - 15). The lake of fire exists as a place where any person or spirit thrown into it will be destroyed (not tortured) for all eternity with no hope of being resurrected.
The lake will be used to destroy any humans who willfully and with full knowledge reject God and the salvation he offers (Revelation 20:15).
13. The Beast and the False Prophet, both heavily inspired by the devil, will be thrown alive into the lake of fire after Jesus returns to earth.
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone (Revelation 19:20, KJV).
14. Revelation directly mentions two resurrections. The first occurs when Jesus Christ returns to the earth as King of Kings (Revelation 20:4 - 6). It a resurrection of those, from Adam to Christ's return, who were called, converted and remained faithful to God.
A second resurrection takes place after Jesus' millennial reign. Known as the Great White Throne Judgment, all those who never had a full chance to receive salvation will be brought back to life and given a chance to live forever!
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works (Revelation 20:11 - 12, KJV).
A resurrection of all the incorrigibly wicked will also take place around the time of the Great White Throne Judgment (hinted at in Revelation 20:15, 21:8). It is unclear whether this is a separate third resurrection or part of the second. Those who knowingly and with full knowledge reject God will receive the eternal penalty of a second death through the lake of fire.
15. The devil will be grabbed by an angel and thrown into a spiritual prison for 1,000 years (a spiritual solitary confinement, Revelation 20:1 - 3). During this imprisonment He will not be allowed to deceive anyone (except, of course, himself).
16. The devil will be thrown into the lake of fire as was the Beast and the False Prophet (Revelation 20:10).
17. The New Jerusalem, built by God, will need neither a sun or moon to provide it light. The glory of God the Father and Jesus Christ will illuminate the city for all eternity (Revelation 21:23).
18. God builds a New Jerusalem after creating a new heaven and earth (Revelation 21:1). It is built so that he and Jesus, for all eternity, may dwell with all those resurrected and made into eternal spirit beings.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God (Revelation 21:3, KJV).
God and Jesus will place their thrones in the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:22).

19. The New Jerusalem, created by God, will be a perfect cube. Its length, width and height will be 12,000 furlongs (Revelation 21:16). This translates, using modern measurements, into a city that is 1,500 miles (2,414 kilometers) square. It will have a total area of roughly 3.37 billion cubic miles (14 billion cubic kilometers).
[Why Does God Create a New Jerusalem?]
20. The walls of New Jerusalem will be composed of twelve foundation stones. Each of these foundations will be made of a precious gemstone. On each of these huge foundations will be a name of one of the original apostles.
Each of the twelve apostles will be honored by having their names etched on one of the twelve foundation stones used for the walls of New Jerusalem.
And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb . . .
And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald . . . (Revelation 21:14, 19, KJV).

21. The Bible's last promise, found in the last chapter of the book of Revelation, assures us that Jesus will surely come back to the earth in the near future.
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus (Revelation 22:20, KJV).
